.... Inducts 4 Rising Stars Into GNPC Speedsters Club

 

Dr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh, General Manager, Sustainability of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation GNPC has advised the youth to develop their God-given passions as it can turn out to be their profession or career and turn them into super stars.

Speaking at the induction of four athletes into the GNPC Speedsters Club, he recalled how his love for athletics got himself into sports management at OWASS in Kumasi by washing jerseys of athletes and how his passion for football earned him coaching the University of Ghana football team, then started Radio Univers as the first sports presenter / producer, and later into the executive of SWAG, board of Asante Kotoko, networked and now with GNPC.

Dr. Baah Nuakoh said nothing comes easy as they have to sacrifice, be disciplined and take the training regime serious.

He assured the inductees of GNPC support so that they realize their dreams of becoming world sprint champions.

Rex Brobbey, founder of the GNPC Ghana Fastest Human Concept introduced the new inductees as Edwin Gadayi, the West African 100m champion, Idrisu Musah, U18 champion, Raymond French, a new discovery and Grace Obour, the new upcoming flying queen.

He hinted that it is time that Ghana finds its lost glory in the short distance events and his team in conjunction with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) would come out with a strategy on how to qualify for the 4 x100m relay for the first time in 22 years and shine at Tokyo 2020 and beyond.

He said the inductees would be based in Kumasi and train under specialists doctors and coaches who will watch their diet and progress.

The former Olympian was optimistic that by 2020 Ghana should have a pool of about 18 great sprinters who are going to shock the world however, they had to plan steadily.

Present at the ceremony were Kweku Sikahene Amponsah, a supporter of Ghana Fastest project, David Amofa and J. Ato Kobby of GNPC.
