Yolanda Cuba joins MTN Group

Former Vodacom Group Chief Officer of Strategy and M&A and Vodacom Ghana CEO, Yolanda Cuba, has been appointed by MTN Group as its Group Chief Digital and Fintech Officer. According to MTN, Cuba will lead the telecommunications companies’ strategic expansion of its financial services and digital solutions efforts and transformation into a digital operator.

As part of her appointment, Cuba will join the MTN Group Executive Committee and will report directly to the Group CEO Rob Shuter.

“This role gives me the opportunity to drive digital innovation and financial inclusion across the Group’s vast footprint. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and being part of the MTN leadership team”, said Cuba.

Cuba is rumoured to have only tendered her resignation with immediate from Vodacom not too long before MTN announced her appointment. She holds a degree in Statistics and Accounting from the University of Cape Town and and another degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.  She is also an alumnus of INSEAD International Executive Programme.
