By Jenipher Asiimwe our correspondent in Beijing, China

Located in Western Yunnan, approximately 250 km northwest of the provincial capital of Kunming, South Western China, Dali is not only magnificent and a must visit China’s travel destination that has mastered the art of protecting the environment . Here is how:

The striking balance between the aero and ground view of the pure Green vegetation and naturally well-arranged hills of the beautiful and renowned 3500 meter Cangshan Mountain in the city are the first clear indication of the city’s stride towards the achievement of environmental protection related UN 2030, Sustainable Development Goals.

The cleanliness of Dali the city with proper wastes disposal and intensive use of environmental friendly locally made shopping bags strategies are eye opening and we strive to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 13.

Lake Erhai, China’s second largest highland lake is the cleanest water body I have visited so far. Despite the varying economic activities around this Chinese treasure which among others include tourism, trade and fishing, the locals have harmoniously co-existed with this natural and fresh 40 kilometre renowned highland water body.

Talk about the weather,EPIC. I hadn’t received relief rainfall in the long time since my relocation from my country Uganda , three years ago but Mt. Changshan made me experience so during the Erhai Forum on Global Ecological Civilization Construction 2024, being the host city.

The Dali based Mount Changshan Global Geopark, UNESCO heritage site. How beautiful and preserved it is! The beautiful flowers, Green trees and landscape make it a number one destination for memory recording events. Moreover it has a scenic spot for wedding photo shoots, at the Lake’s shores.

Access to pure, clean and natural water for drinking and home consumption. Beautiful Dali boasts of hundreds of streams and rivers originating from thousands of hills in the city are also an excellent revelation worth crediting on a planet where over 2 billion people are in need of clean water.

Just like other ethnicities in China, Dali people have preserved China’s history of civilization and development. The Ancient City, one of the oldest monuments in China interior and exterior attributes look newer than their age. A visit to the clean and Weishan Museum and Weishan Academy, the famous Yan Family Hall, the famous Dali bookstore; Librairie Avant Garde and Paper Horse Museum the maiden development gazette in China.

Indeed, Dali is a sustainability model city of China. Credit goes to China Central and Dali City governments for preserving such a planet earth pearl that beautiful this city is!
