The 2025/26 MTN FA Cup competition will take the center stage on the local football scene as it enters the round of 16 phase with some mouth-watering fixtures including all-Premier League clashes.
League leaders – Medeama Sporting Club will play as host to FC Samartex 1996 at the TNA Park on Saturday, February 6. Coached by former Black Stars and Borussia Dortmund striker – Ibrahim Tanko, Medeama SC has been a delight to watch in both the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup.
Medeama SC, two time champions of the FA Cup did not reach this stage by dint of luck, but through hard having beaten reigning league champions Gold Stars.
Samartex on the other hand washed away Debiso Soccer Lions 9–1 in the Round of 32 to send strong warning that they are indeed ready to fight for the crown.
The two sides drew 1–1 when they last faced off in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Nations Football Club will also welcome Swedru All Blacks to the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Kumasi.
Nations FC have lost a little of their mojo that made them one of the top clubs in all competitions last season, but their handsome win over Medeama SC last week could be used as a turning point to change things for the better for them.
Premier League newcomers, All Blacks have also not been as interesting as they were in the Division One League, but the MTN FA Cup is a competition that has no respect for form and the Swedru based side can jump on that to cause real havoc to Nations FC.
