Noel Ganson: Supporting Skate Soccer is one of such exciting ways to help the physically challenged

Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson has explained the reason why the telecommunications giant has chosen Skate Soccer [a sport for the physically challenged individuals especially polio survivors] as its partner of choice.

“Supporting the Skate Soccer is one of such exciting ways to help the physically challenged,” Mr. Ganson said ahead of the launch of the Skate Soccer League.

“Our association with this game is mainly because of the uniqueness of the game and the players involved.

“The players, regardless of the challenges they face continue to embrace the opportunities they find to showcase their strength, tenacity and talent.Del Report

“It is a game that reflects MTN’s Can do spirit and Relationship values. It is simply amazing to watch them play,” Mr. Ganson noted.

According to the organizers [International Federation of Skate Soccer], the key focus of the initiative is to get the physically challenged off the streets.

Skate Soccer also creates an environment that gives opportunity to the physically challenged to showcase their talent through the game of soccer.

Skate Soccer, an innovation and precisely the first of its kind is played by physically challenged people, predominantly polio survivors.

In this game, the players sit on a slightly larger skateboard and play association football, controlling the ball with their hands. The rules of the game is similar to that of association football.

Mr. Albert Frimpong, the Chief Executive Officer of the International Federation of Skate Soccer has appreciated the support from MTN Ghana, describing it as timely;

“The support from MTN is timely and highly appreciated. I am delighted that the Federation is growing steadily and gaining more support,” he said.

“We will continue to demonstrate our commitment to the development our commitment to the development of the physically challenged particularly polio victims through sports.

“Our aim is to include Skate Soccer in the Paralympics and we know we will succeed,” he added.

MTN Ghana [the market leader in the competitive mobile telecommunications industry] over the years have been supporting various sectors of sports including local football clubs such as Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and King Faisal.

The company [MTN Ghana] has been sponsoring the FA Cup, several golf clubs, as well as the prestigious annual SWAG awards night.
