Communication University of China holds International Alumni Homecoming Celebration

The event was successfully held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of China Communication and Matchmaking University, the International Media Education Institute (Center for Overseas Student Affairs) held a successful ceremony in V01, China Communication and Communication Center on September 28th. “Communication University of China, I am back” International homecoming celebration.

Zhang Xuesong, Director of Strategic Research Department of China Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution Administration Bureau Asia-Pacific Communication Center, Ru Tao, Director of International spread Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, Mach, Secretary General of International Alumni Talent Alliance and International Affairs Director of International Conference on Talent Entrepreneurship. Shirley Chen, Secretary General of Malaysia Alumni Association, Jin Xuetao, Dean of School of International Communication Education (Center for Overseas Student Affairs) of Communication University of China and nearly 100 representatives of international students attended the event.

Director Zhang believes that the core essence of international spread is to connect each other and seek empathy. International alumni, as international media talents cultivated by CUC, are the bridge to promote mutual understanding and Communication among countries.

Director Zhang wished Communication University of China to go better and better on the road of internationalization and make the brand of “studying in China” bigger and stronger. Cultivate more first-class international media talents with global vision and cross-cultural communication ability, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the construction of a community of human destiny.

Ru Tao, director of the international spread department of the propaganda department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, said that CUC has trained a large number of high-quality, compound international media elites. They have become a bridge for international spread of Chinese stories and voices for different countries and regions, and have made positive contributions to the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.

With the deepening of the process of globalization, the task of international spread will be more and more difficult, but also full of opportunities. The international alumni of Communication University of China, as the double emissaries of understanding China and the world, will certainly play a more important role in the future international spread.

Director Rutao hopes that international students can continue to play their own advantages, combined with the trend of globalization and demand for Beijing, China and the world to contribute more wisdom and strength for cultural exchanges.
Maher, secretary general of the International Alumni Talent Alliance and director of international affairs at the International Talent Entrepreneurship Conference, shared his deep friendship with Communication University of China. Although not an alumnus of Communication University of the People’s Republic of China, he has experienced learning and living in China with all international students of Communication University.

He recalled the story of his study and work in Beijing, and emphasized the important role of international students in Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, and called on all international students in China to explore opportunities in China.

Maher also mentioned that through organizing activities to promote the cooperation among alumni, he is committed to providing more entrepreneurial and employment opportunities for international students, and he looks forward to working with the students of CSC to create a better tomorrow.

Jin Xuetao, Dean of School of International Media Education (Center for Overseas Student Affairs), introduced the development process and cultivation characteristics of international students in Communication University of China.

In 1982, through an intercollegiate cooperation agreement with Ohio State University, the Communication University of China welcomed the first international Chinese language student in the history of the university, and officially enrolled international degree students in 1995.

The school has achieved remarkable results in professional construction and personnel training, and the proportion of degree students is outstanding. The international students in China are distributed in many majors in the double first-class disciplines of the school. In addition, the school offers a variety of external training programs, committed to creating a diverse campus environment to promote cross-cultural exchanges and understanding.

Shirley Chen, Secretary General of Communication University of China Malaysia Alumni Association presented a gift to the college on behalf of the Alumni Association and delivered a speech on behalf of Liu Weiyi, President of Communication University of China Malaysia Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association of Malaysia was founded in 2016 and is now in its eighth year. The Alumni Association of China Heritage Malaysia is the first non-governmental organization officially approved by the local government in China. The development of the Alumni Association has always been focused on “serving the Alma Mater, networking with alumni, assisting students and maintaining friendship in China.”

During the activity, representatives of international students sang the school song “There is a row of young poplars on campus,” which caused warm applause.
Prominent Jamaican alumna Victoria Elizabeth shared her experience of studying at the Communication University of China as a person with diverse cultural backgrounds – Chinese, African and American – and said the journey helped her connect her family’s Chinese roots.

During her ten years in China, she has become a cultural ambassador by teaching communication studies courses and promoting cultural exchange and understanding between China and the West in the classroom. She encouraged her students to be a bridge between their respective countries and China, to actively participate in cross-cultural activities, and to keep an open mind and embrace new experiences and approaches.

Renowned Spanish alumnus Noel Sirerol Gonzalez shared his experience and insights.

He dreamed of becoming a director since childhood, and despite initially studying and working in the fields of East Asian studies and international trade, he eventually decided to follow his dream and turn to filmmaking. During his studies at the Communication University of China, he found a balance between passion and professionalism through the combination of self-media and coursework, using the theory he learned in class to make videos. He encourages people to pursue their passion, because passion is the best guide to achieving their dreams in life, and believes that by sticking to what they love, there is no limit to what is possible in the future.

Donatien Niyonzima, a well-known Rwandan alumnus, talked about his experience of studying in China Communication University from Rwanda and shared the harvest of cultural integration and academic development.

In his academic journey, especially in terms of cultural dialogue between China and Africa, he has gained insights into international spread and intercultural exchanges and applied them to his career. He stressed the importance of the Communication University of China for his career growth and hoped to continue to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between China and Africa in the future.

Cui Hua, a famous Polish alumnus, shared her experience of studying at the Communication University of China three times. The choice of these three majors is not only an exploration of her personal career path, but also an in-depth understanding of the media industry from the outside to the inside. Cuihua’s three choices reflect the changes of the times and the changes of the media market.

She also talked about the future of media and artificial intelligence, encouraging people not to be superstitious about the social clock, but to constantly challenge themselves and follow their hearts.

After the guest sharing, the international students actively asked questions to the guests and launched a warm exchange. At the end of the interactive session, the audience left an unforgettable photo.

“Communication University of China, I am back” The event not only celebrated the 70-year history of CUC, but also provided a platform for international alumni and international students to communicate with each other, highlighting the inclusiveness and esprit de corps of CUC.

At this glorious moment, we will join hands and look forward to the future together and continue to write a beautiful chapter of the Communication University of China.
