‘WISA’ applauds BlackPrincesses

....Calls for female coach to handle team

Women In Sports Association (WISA) has commended the Black Princesses for winning one match out of three at the FIFA Under 20 Women’s Championship in France.

Madam Gloria Commodore, Executive Director of WISA told Yours Truly in an exclusive interview that she and her group are very proud of the girls for their achievement at the on going Championship.

According to Mama G as she is affectionately called in media circles, “the girls were never disgraced because they did not get the much needed adequate preparations, they did not play any international trial match, they were neither motivated nor inspired by anyone except themselves”.

She said they did well by winning 1-0 against New Zealand, after losing 1- 4 to host nation France and 0 – 4 to Holland, both tough European nations.
“I dont think they fared badly looking at the preparation and motivation, they have done very well and we of WISA salute them, we know if all things were right and equal we can beat those who beat us. It was not easy watching them, but we have made our name and mark” she said.

Madam Commodore stressed that the Princesses could have scored more goals with the inclusion of Priscilla Adobea, their top striker who got injured just before the tournament.

She also called on the football authorities to appoint female coaches for all the female teams as that would be better for easy communication.

She praised the media who showed the U20 World Cup and the print and radio who talked about the players.

According to Mama G, the second WISA Achievers Awards would be launched at the conference room of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) on August 29, ahead of the main event at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29, 2018.Image result for dela ahiawor

She thanked Ghandour Cosmetics who are sponsoring the second WISA Awards where 26 sports personalities including players, journalists and administrators would be recognized and awarded.
