J.J Rawlings, the last President to win Africa Cup of Nations for Ghana dies at 73yrs

 

Former President of Ghana [Jerry John Rawlings] has been pronounced dead aged 73-years-old.

J.J Rawlings, the only President in the 4th Republic to have won the African Cup of Nations [AFCON 82] for Ghana passed out this morning, Thursday, November 12 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The then Military leader having assumed the reigns of power in 1981 did not heed to the popular call that the Black Stars should not attend the tournament, but defied all odds and made all the necessary arrangements to make sure that Ghana did not just represent but finished 1st in the tournament, beating Lybia 7-6 on penalties.
