Esports: Top 3 CS:GO Players hit $5.1 Million in Overall Earnings in January

Esports market is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, bringing huge profits for the most talented gamers. Some of the leading eSports tournaments globally have prize pools worth millions, with more money being put on the line each year and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is on that list. According to GossipGamers.com research, the top three CS:GO players in the world hit $5.1 million in overall earnings as of January.

Danish Players Lead in the CS:GO Earnings

Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, currently leads the earnings table for eSports players of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with $1.74 million profit so far. A 24-year old Danish gamer is a member of team Astralis and has competed in 150 tournaments.

His fellow countryman, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, ranked second with earnings also exceeding $1.74 million. A 26-year old player has competed in 136 tournaments so far. A Danish gamer Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz ranked third, with the overall earnings of $1.7 million profit from 130 tournaments.

The cumulative prize pool of the online shooting game reached $18.2 million in 2019, which ranked the CS:GO as the third-largest eSports tournament in the world.

Counter-Strike Player Base Hit 20 Million in 2019

Although CS:GO was released seven years ago, the online shooting game is still top-rated and has developed a cult following. The 2019 statistics showed that Counter-Strike had more than 20 million monthly active users, or double the 2016 figures.

Also, the number of Counter-Strike current players on Steam has been constantly growing over the last six months, reaching 767 thousand gamers in December 2019. The game reached its record high peak concurrent player number in April 2016, with nearly 850.5 thousand gamers playing at the same time.
