The results of the “Media Achievement and Encouragement Awards Competition,” organized annually by the Cyprus Turkish Journalists Union (KTGB) on the occasion of Press Day, celebrated every year on July 11, have been announced. This year, Burhan Canbaz was awarded the title of “Best Presenter of Cyprus” for his outstanding performances and impactful news delivery style.
In a statement released by KTGB, it was noted that 56 applications were submitted for the competition and evaluations were carried out based on both individual applications and nominations made by members. The Award Committee also granted some awards on its own initiative.
Burhan Canbaz received full marks from the jury for his impactful language in news presentation, impartial stance, and professional demeanor, earning him the title of “Best Presenter of Cyprus.”
In the same competition, TAK correspondents Rahme Çiftçioğlu and Arda Mercan were also awarded. Additionally, the late journalists Perihan Aziz and Neriman Cahit were commemorated, and special awards were presented in the names of former KTGB chairpersons Özcan Özcanhan and Mustafa Doğrusöz, as well as the late journalist Sami Taşarkan.
KTGB has also initiated work to revise the award criteria in order to improve quality in the media sector and encourage young journalists.
